2023 August 06 - SN 1008: A Supernova Ribbon from Hubble
In today's image, we see a part of the remnant of a supernova that was seen here on Earth over a thousand years ago. The material has been expanding outward all that time and still has enough energy to excite and ionize atoms in the interstellar material that it passes though.
