Finding Ramonita, My Puerto Rican Abuela: Gianni Arroyo

February 17, 2020

Gianni Arroyo is studying to be a journalist, and while most journalists are looking externally for their stories, Gia looks inwardly. She knows there’s a powerful story within her Boricua blood. This is a story about persistence and finding the truth. Gia wants to find the truth surrounding her deceased grandmother, Ramonita, a woman who watched her own mother murdered in front of her. Gia believes everything she has to go through to get to this story is worth it all—even talking to her consistently drunk abuelo. On today’s episode, we talk about Gia’s love for Harry Styles, her love for her island of Puerto Rico, her love for documentary journalism, and most of all, her love for her family and amazing grandmother, Ramonita.
