Parental Geekery
Episode 25 - He’s already got one
Welcome back to another episode of Parental Geekery, where we’re celebrating our first birthday – yay!
We talk about our recent holiday in France, which included David’s first flight (on Ryanair). John had the exciting experience of driving on the right in an unfamiliar car, and became a guide parent again, which was quite a different experience in France. On the way home we nearly missed the flight and it was all Google calendar’s fault…
We talk about our recent experiences with Catherine and sleep, which have come as a nasty shock – she’s fighting sleep at bedtime and has started waking up in the night. We also bemoan how hard it is to read Fox in Socks (those cursed tweetle beetles!)
The time has come to start potty training David, but we have a cunning plan!
We enjoyed a great day out at the Manchester Mini Maker Faire (and you can read more about that on Ruth’s blog). If you’re interested in finding a Maker Faire near to you then check out the main Maker site. We also mention the Pimoroni guys – makers of the piebow and the picade tabletop arcade machine.
John talks about his experiences of becoming a STEM ambassador in preparation for starting a code club at Catherine’s school next term.
What we’re playing: John’s still heavily into Firefall. What we’re watching:Â We’re still enjoying Person of Interest, Who Do You Think You Are and The Mill. What we’re reading: Ruth has a bit of a geek out about The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, and talks about her cool birthday present from her Mum.
