Parental Geekery
Parental Geekery episode 21 - held together with gaffer tape
We open the show with the magnificent Chris Hadfield and his cover version of Space Oddity.
We run through the recent Google announcements from Google I/O, whilst coping with the technical challenge of John breaking Ruth’s microphone and fixing it again (with gaffer tape)! You can read the full list of Google I/O announcements here. The correct URL for the preview of Google Maps is at maps.google.com/preview
We talk about the recent update to the Barnes & Noble nook HD and HD+ which has made the Google Play store available on the device. You can read more details of the update on Ruth’s blog. We also give some advice to our friend Simon as to whether he should buy one or not.
We talk about attending and speaking at Blog Summit, and how wonderful our friends are who looked after the kids for us whilst we were there.
Another conference is coming up – Thinking Digital, which unfortunately only one of us can attend. We blame Documentally for introducing the conference to us
We’ve been playing the new Dungeons and Dragons MMO Neverwinter, which is currently in open beta.
We talk about virtual currencies – Bitcoin and Litecoin, and how we’re trying to make money with them.
We went to the cinema as a family to watch The Croods, and we talk about how we got on.
Ruth’s playing Gnome Village, whilst John is still playing pool! John has been reading comics with Catherine, and she’s starting to spot when he reads things wrong And then Ruth loses her voice!
