A Giving World

November 13, 2015

What means the most to you?  And how could you celebrate it by giving back--but not necessarily by giving money?

People are going to be answering that question, all over the world, on Tuesday, December 1.

Tuesday, December 1, 2015, is "Giving Tuesday": a day of global giving.  Founded in 2012 by New York's 92nd Street Y, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, "Giving Tuesday" challenges everyone to find new ways to support their favorite nonprofits.

And it's all about being creative and having fun while giving more.

Some of the ways of being creative?  Well, you could take "unselfies" while volunteering or giving--or enter a brand-new story competition that's part of Giving Tuesday!

Kait Sheridan, Director of Partnerships and Programs at the 92nd Street Y's Center for Innovation and Social Impact, joins Over Coffee® this week to talk about Giving Tuesday and some of the creative ways people are getting involved.
On this episode of Over Coffee®, you'll hear:

The different ways of giving that can make an impact, with no money involved;

Kait's recollections of the first "Giving Tuesday" at Y92 in 2012;

Some of the more creative ways of giving she's seen;

How to enter the new "My Giving Story" competition that's part of Giving Tuesday 2015;

Ways to get involved--as an organization or an individual

How to support your favorite nonprofits on social media

How to use some of the resources on the Giving Tuesday website

How Giving Tuesday impacts nonprofits beyond just one 24-hour period

Ways to come up with an imaginative idea to make giving fun--and a great story of two libraries, and how they're incorporating their creativity and literary knowledge!
