An Entrepreneur’s Real-World Wisdom

June 10, 2016

Entrepreneurship and a healthy lifestyle aren't necessarily the two most compatible routines.

And no one knows that better than author, entrepreneur and coach Maxwell Ivey, Jr.

Max, who is the proprietor of online business The Midway Marketplace, explores the challenges of getting healthy in the "real world" in his just-published second book, It's Not the Cookie, It's the Bag.

But--this is no "diet" book.   It's all about understanding, up front, that you're you're not going to be perfect--and changing your behavior accordingly.

Max is uniquely qualified to offer this type of guidance to fellow entrepreneurs.  He learned how to run a successful business from working with his father's carnival in his growing-up years.   With the stress, traveling, deadlines and carnival food, Max once weighed over 500 pounds.

A health crisis led him to lose more than 250 pounds--and keep them off.  Last year, Max published his first book, Leading You Out of the Darkness Into the Light. This debut book guides others towards making their dreams a reality as Max shares his own business experience.  (Currently, Max's Midway Marketplace site helps others in the amusement industry buy, sell and trade equipment.)

Max is also totally blind.  You'll find his books, coaching services and upcoming appearances on his website, theblindblogger.net.

In his second Over Coffee® guest appearance, Max talked about his own weight-loss experience, some of the behavior-modification strategies he covers in his new book,  and down-to-earth ways to schedule healthier habits into the busy workdays of an entrepreneur.
