Study Sounds | Sacred Soundscapes

June 09, 2014

E04 | The Kadisha Valley of Mount Lebanon, the name of which means "holy" in Aramaic, has long been home to monasteries and played an important role in the spiritual and social life of the Maronite community. It is also one of the best spots in Lebanon for hiking and strolling through the sights and soundscape of a Mediterranean mountain ecology. This edition of Study Sounds offers a little stroll past the village of Qannoubine that begins with the quiet sounds of the birds and breeze and ends with the raucous cacophony of valley dinner party.

Study Challenge: Use the soft sounds of the valley as the backdrop for reflection on the role of environment and geography in your research.
