Forgotten True Crime
44: The 1883 Murder of Capitalist Nicholas Skerritt
This episode comes from the book Celebrated Criminal Cases of America and is in the public domain. It was written by Thomas Duke. The cool thing about this series is that this book is widely thought of as one of the first true crime storybooks to be published in the US. Now, here is the fun part… for me, at least. I am going to do what I can to research these cases. They range from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s, and I will see what I can find. Did these cases happen as they are told? What was left out of the story? I am eager to find out! Check out our blogpost at truecrime.blog where you can compare the evidence I found against the story as it was written.
