Off The Air With Rich Herrera: Army/Navy Week
Pick a side. Army or Navy? 364 days a year they are brothers in arms defending our nation and keeping us free. One day a year they compete on the gridiron for bragging rights that carry on for the entire year. As the Army Corps of Cadets and the Brigade of Midshipman march into the stadium, the best and the brightest our nation has to offer take center stage on the college football landscape.
All year long, they work hard to Beat Army or Beat Navy. This week, we salute The US Military Academy and the US Naval Academy by spotlighting the Voices of Army and Navy Football. Rich Demarco is the Voice of the Black Knight Football Team of Army and Pete Medhurst calls games for all the ships at sea for the Navy Midshipmen.
Their audience is truly worldwide as many of the alumni from both academies are serving in far flung locations across the globe. Their broadcasts are heard in military bases, aircraft carriers as well as the halls of the Pentagon.
The Army Navy game has been a one-sided affair in recent years with Navy winning 13 games in a row. This year, the Mids are lead by Keenan Reynolds, who look for number 14. On the Army side, they are ready to begin a streak of their own, and you know what they say about streaks they are made to be broken. Lets go Off The Air with the Voices of Army and Navy Football.
