The Cure for Restlessness

May 05, 2024

“O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; Like a weaned child rests against his mother, My soul is like a weaned child within me. O Israel, hope in the Lord From this time forth and forever.” Psalm 131:1-3 NASB 95

How To Find Rest

  • Press into the source of rest

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NASB

  • Practice the Sabbath principle

“Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27 NASB

Physical rest

Emotional rest

Spiritual rest

Relational connection

  • Practice being still

Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10 NIV

  • Practice being grateful

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV

  • Practice being a servant

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 NASB

“…If you want to be first,” he said, “you must be last of all, and servant of all.” Mark 9:35 ERV

  • Pray for fresh vision in your current circumstances

“And whatever you do, in word or action, do everything in the name of the master, Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the father… Whatever you do, give it your very best, as if you were working for the Master and not for human beings. After all, you know that you’re going to receive the true inheritance from the Master as your reward! It is the Master, the Messiah, that you are serving.” Colossians 3:17, 23-24 NTFE
