The Cure for Emptiness
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6 NIV
If I Am Feeling Empty, I Need To
- Be aware of what I am longing for
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.” Isaiah 55:1-2 NIV
“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1 NIV
- Be filled with the right things
“Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.” 1 John 5:21 NLT
- Be filled with His love
“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:16 NASB 95
- Be filled with the Spirit
“…be filled with the Spirit. Encourage each other with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord. Always give thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Be willing to serve each other out of respect for Christ.” Ephesians 5:18:21 ETRV
“The last day of the festival came. It was the most important day. On that day Jesus stood up and said loudly, “Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink. If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart. That is what the Scriptures say.” Jesus was talking about the Spirit. The Spirit had not yet been given to people, because Jesus had not yet been raised to glory. But later, those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit.” John 7:37-39 ETRV
- Be filled with purpose
“Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Isaiah 43:7 ESV
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 NASB
