Today’s BIG Ideas podcast is a follow up to last week’s discussion about using business intelligence to analyze how many patients seen by one specialty see another specialty in the practice. Since we can follow a cohort of patients that saw a specialty to see where those patients go and the revenue they generate, this week’s project was to follow patients in the same specialty. We tracked patients who first saw a provider in 2019 and then followed those patients through 2022 to see what other providers in the same specialty the patient saw. We took that analysis a step further to see whether providers generated more revenue for other providers or whether the other providers sent more revenue to a specific list of providers. If you followed your new patients, what would you learn? What would you do differently?
