She holds a Master of Music Therapy from Augsburg University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Evansville. Specializing in trauma-informed care in mental health and reflective clinical practice, Melanie has experience working with people of all ages in a person-centered, strengths-based approach in medical settings, neurological rehabilitation, addictions treatment, end of life care, developmental care, and neuro-affirmative wellness. She enjoys scholarly writing and regularly shares her work at state, regional, and national conferences. Her most recent research focuses on the integration of reflective practice in music therapy practice, education, and clinical training in the U.S. Melanie has served in various capacities within the American Music Therapy Association and currently serves on the Mississippi State Task Force for music therapy.
