Mom Enough: A Parenting Podcast
Let’s Get Outside: Tips for Parents and Teachers from an Environmental Educator and Creative Dad
April is Let’s G.O. (Get Outside) month, a great time to remind yourself why being out in nature is so important to your children’s health and well-being – and your own! This week’s Mom Enough guest, Jeff Ledermann, has spent the last 20 years working with the Minnesota Department of Education to help educators integrate nature and the outdoors into their teaching. And, as the father of two daughters, he has come up with some fun ways to support them in building a healthy, outdoor lifestyle, including starting a Fishing Daughters Club. Jeff and Marti and Erin are kindred spirits when it comes to getting the whole family outside and we’re sure you’ll want to put some of Jeff’s helpful ideas into practice in your family.
After this discussion, stay tuned to a brief Relationships that Nurture feature, with Sarah Rehman from St. David’s Center for Child & Family Development talking about the importance of inclusion of children with special needs in everyday activities with their typically developing peers.
On a typical day, how much time does your child spend outside? How about you? Share your thoughts in our REPLY space below!
