Antes de salir del hospital, necesitamos hablar de cómo usted va a monitorear sus niveles de azúcar en la sangre y cómo va a aplicarse la insulina.
Before leaving the hospital, we need to talk about how you are going to monitor your blood sugar levels and how you are going to give yourself insulin.
Aquí está un aparato que se llama glucómetro que mide los niveles de azúcar en la sangre.
Here is a device called a glucometer that measures blood sugar levels.
Usted se pincha la yema del dedo con esta cuchilla pequeña, que se llama lanceta, para obtener una gota de sangre.
You prick your fingertip with this small blade called a lancet in order to obtain a drop of blood.
Coloque esta gota en una tira de prueba y luego la inserta en el aparato.
Place this drop of blood on a test strip and then you insert it into the device.
El glucómetro mide su nivel de azúcar en la sangre.
The device measures your blood sugar level.
¿Cuántas veces al día tengo que checar mi nivel de azúcar en la sangre?
How many times a day will I have to check my blood sugar level?
Al principio, usted debe checar su nivel de azúcar antes de cada comida porque va a ajustar su dosis de insulina según su nivel de azúcar.
At first, you should check your sugar level before every meal, because you are going to change your insulin dose according to your sugar level.
