Stats
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/
- Why are we using Flash in 2015?
- Same reason they use rm -rf $VARIABLE/* in shell scripts?
- The Download stats says Europe downloads a lot more than the US
- Yet the graphic doesn’t seem to reflect that.
- Looks like they fixed it!
Shadow Warrior Mac and Linux Testing
https://steamdb.info/sub/58994/history/
- Additional Notes: The will of a true ninja warrior and an appreciation of Wang jokes.
- Looks like it could be a decently fun FPS.    Hopefully they’ll make with the keys once the linux version drops
Dying Light
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239140
- Remember kids. Don’t pre-order a gorram thing!
- It’s official: http://steamcommunity.com/games/239140/announcements/detail/121929834594720333
- Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780 / AMD Radeon™ R9 290 (2GB VRAM)
- That’s a bold claim you made.    Care to back that up?
Motorbike
http://store.steampowered.com/app/343120/
- The sting from this was seeing Road Redemption in the “more like this†section.
- I’m not sure ubuntu 10.12 is a thing.  Ubuntu from a parallel universe?
InMind VR
http://store.steampowered.com/app/343740/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1
- It’s the occulus version of Microcosm!   But with no trippy Rick Wakeman synthesizer solos
- It’s cheap as free though, so if you have Rift, have at.
- It looks like neat sauce but not  fan of wearing shite on my head organ.
CaesarIA
http://store.steampowered.com/app/327640/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1
- Requires the elusive 1500 processor
- That looks EXACTLY as I remember Caesar III looking like
- Early access free to play. Â Â Way to do it right.
- It doesn’t work very well, and by that I mean it’s barely even playable.
- I didn’t have anyone living in the city yet and 2 of the vacant spots just caught fire.
- When my population reached 10 people, half of them turned into Shadow citizens.
- Tried several times to change resolution, game threw a buggy dialog message saying I needed to restart.
- Needless to say it didn’t work.
- Good thing it’s free!
Survivor Squad
http://store.steampowered.com/app/258050/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1
- Door Kickers meets Left4Dead and DayZ, with rogue-like elements.
- I’m getting some dead sky flashbacks
News:
960 announced
http://maxwell.nvidia.com/gtx-960
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Items/ci/27172/N/3823164311
- *looks at 980* That’s adorable!
- All things considered, it fits the niche left between the 750TI and the 970.
- Because there is still a $200 difference between those two.
- I’m interested to see what the 950 looks like.
- But I wonder…
Something about the 970 … I forget
http://www.lazygamer.net/general-news/nvidias-gtx970-has-a-rather-serious-memory-allocation-bug/
- Wonder if this affects Linux
- Supposedly the top 500M of VRAM on the 970 is bad, causing performance hits
- They segmented the SSMs on the 970 so it would be different to the 980.
- The first segment has 3,5G and the last has the 500 Megs in question.
- Hopefully it won’t be a hardware issue as everyone is describing it.
- Not that I’ve played any game so far that needs all 4Gigs of VRAM, but I want to think that if the day comes, there’ll be a Driver update to work around this.
- This article from TechReport specifically mentions the STRIX and I’m not happy about it!
- PCPer has a statement from NVidia saying the very same thing happens on the 980: http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-Responds-GTX-970-35GB-Memory-Issue
- Which contradicts what everyone else was saying.
- And they don’t really mention the memory speed drops anywhere.
- Video example

WINE 1.7.35
https://www.winehq.org/announce/1.7.35
- Beginnings of OpenGL core profile support
- DirectWire support for glyph placement
- More WebM things
- And another 56 bugfixes.
- Including one that now let’s you download games in Origin.
- Why would you want to do that, I have no clue. But you can, now!
I sense a disturbance…
http://www.gog.com/game/star_wars_dark_forces
- Well, not really. Â Â This is just a Dosbox port.
- That said, it’s kind of funny that all these abandoned star wars games are finding new homes on linux systems
- GOG really needs to step up and release a Desura/Steam like client.
Still witching
http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/2t44kb/virtual_programming_didnt_abandon_fixing_witcher/
- On one hand-organ i’m glad they are still fixing their busted TECH but I genuinely hope that was the first and last time we see in on Linux.
- Ditto
- Actually, apparently the Witcher 2 port is uncovering kernel bugs
John Romero’s Worst Game is now open sauce
https://bitbucket.org/DGibson/daikatana-1.3/wiki/Home
- You still need the old game assets. Â Â Â I wonder though, who actually kept this turd?
- Also includes a freebsd build for your convenience
- You know, I never actually played this game. Â Â Â In fact growing up I had never heard of it.
Open-Sourced SS13
http://spacestation13.com/2015/01/open-sourced-ss13/
https://github.com/ss13remake/ss13remake
- Supposedly an MMO for something awful goons
- Basically, the dev’s can maintain the project no-mo so they’re booting it to the community
- And we all know how well that turns out *cough*naturalselection2*cough*
For it is not our wisdom but the wisdom of the only true review metric. Hallowed are the Chairs.
