Valve time
- Yes…planned…
- Seems they are saving their load for GDC.
- Need to save it for the special time…….and make it huge!!!
- we are talking about sex right?
Early QA
http://www.giantbomb.com/articles/steam-updates-early-access-rules-guidelines-for-de/1100-5101/
- And who enforces this exactly?
- Oh, how about a 1yr limit for early access games? *glares at DN4E bunny rabbit*
- I have said this and so has the others at LGC.
- Have a set price for the release.
- While doing the early access set the price at say 2$ for example.
- as more major updates arrive raise the price little by little til you reach release day status price. NOT HARD! if you sell 100,000 copies of a 2$ alpha thats 200,000$ you made.
- This is my fave guideline: Don’t launch in Early Access if you can’t afford to develop with very few or no sales.
- I think the issue is that Valve wants to have their cake and eat it too
- They want there to be a low barrier for entry so that they can make money, but they’re realizing that they can’t have that without letting all the crap and scams in.
7 Days to Die Alpha 10 brings Linux support
http://store.steampowered.com/app/251570/
- Minecraft /w zombies for the low low price of $24.99!
- Sorta want?
- Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA?
- I remember watching lets plays of this. Didn’t exactly convince me back then.
- I already have it but I need to test it.
Â
Goat MMO Simulator DLC
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265930/
- MMO simulation so good you’ll think it’s real
- I did for the first 10 seconds….. fail.
- There are even elves and dwarves like in that movie
- It runs as good as Goat Sim does. Not exactly optimized.
- WHAR Goatsemulator?
TINYKEEP
http://store.steampowered.com/app/278620
- Procedurally generated random dungeons – no playthrough is ever the same!
- Permadeath gameplay
- Explore a variety of beautiful but deadly environments. From the cold slimy walls of the dungeon to the hot fiery pits of hell, TinyKeep is a visual treat.
- To a toddler.
- The game needs a better looking HUD to fit with the atmosphere.
- I like’em roguelikes and unlike most other Unity action games, when you swing and hit something you get proper visual/auditory feedback to that respect.
Â
Soul Axiom
http://store.steampowered.com/app/279900/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1
- He doesn’t feel good anymore
- Looks like a matrix-y Bioshock game. Â Â Â The animation in the trailer looks good, but as with all early access, I shall wait and see.,
- First person walking simulator with puzzles and a Tron-like aesthetic… Sounds like the great majority of games in early access nowadays.
- Like Jordan said trailer is really selling the game for me but yeah I will wait for the sale.

Voice of Pripyat 3D
http://store.steampowered.com/app/269530/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1
- I thought it was gonna be stalker
- I wished it would have been, but no
- Crappy Unreal Tournament in Chernobyl.
- That Early Access box tells you everything you need to know about this game
- But not what developers wanted to convey

News:
Double Fine loses 12 staff
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2014-11-21-double-fine-loses-12-staff
- Alright! Calm, yo, tits! (full disclosure DF has provided us with several review titles)
- DoubleFine is not going under. They are simply nixing people because a game was canceled.
- I’ll take this fiscally responsible Double Fine over the one who raised 3.3mil (400K goal) and only managed to release half a game.
Elite: Dangerous goes online only… and still no mention of Linux (yoinked from Empty)
http://www.geek.com/games/elite-dangerous-drops-offline-mode-angry-backers-demand-refunds-1609609/
- Right, because always online single player games have always been a rousing success since NEVER.
- “In retrospect we should have shared the fact that we were struggling with this aspect with the communityâ€
- Ya fk mothering think?
- Unless they allow people to host their own servers I’m never touching the filthy animal.
- Probably not gonna happen, what with the persistent world thing
- Another kickstarter gone wrong.
Â
Unreal demos
https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Linux_Demos
- Ooooh, racing demo.
- I saw that and was all “Yay!  Venn has a racing game nowâ€
- Had some funky lighting issues /w 343 but 346 drivers sorted things.
- Also note anyone using OS drivers SHOULD NOT try.
- Which is a bad philosophy IMO.   At least get it functional with radeon and radeonsi, considering how outright borked the proprietary AMD drivers are.   No openGL 4 though…
- OpenGL 4 is almost done in the r600 drivers, but radeonsi is still missing a few extensions.
- Intel drivers don’t have OpenGL 4 support yet either.
- With the latest NVidia drivers, the Cave demo now has proper lighting.
- Everything else works properly with both OpenGL 3 and OpenGL 4 (using the -opengl4 flag)
- It’s gotten to the point now where I really want to see some games on the market made with this business
Gallium Nine added to Mesa
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/commit/?id=fdd96578ef2dfe9c4ad5aab5858036298d444a64
- People using Radeon cards can get really fkn near native DX9 performance /w WINE.
- Still easier to use patched WINE vs patched Mesa.
- A whole lot easier
- So, with AMD scrapping their proprietary drivers and just using Gallium with more of their blobs, Radeon folks will get decent performance in WINE games.
- That kind of opens a can of worms. A game dev looks at that situation and goes like: “Oh! If we use WINE we can provide a similar experience between Linux and WIndows right? What’s the point in porting?â€
- Because that’ll alienate 85% of the linux gaming market who use nvidia cards
- Still, even with these patches NVidia will still have the better performance between the two.
Postal Redux
https://twitter.com/RWSPOSTAL/status/533377312801443842
- Now with four times the Boll
- Built on UE4
- Let’s see how well this will get optimized.
- Always been a bit meh on the Postal series and Gah, that movie.
- The movie NEVER HAPPENED…
0 A.D. Development Report #16
http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19357
- In short, they need programmers and animators. Â Â Anyone who has blender chops should definitely apply
- They’ve also added savegame support in AI games.

Game: Goat MMO (Goat Simulator DLC)
Webzone: http://www.goat-simulator.com/
Devel: Coffee Stain Studios
Engine: UE3
Price: 9.99 / FREE
Wazzat: The Goat MMO Simulator expansion has now been patched in for free to the base game. If you own Goat Simulator, it’ll start downloading automatically.
Makes with the working
V-
- It runs well enough. Not exactly what I would call optimized but still perfectly playable.
- Not having any luck talking /w other players. It’s like they can’t even see me.
- The chat is always filled /w the same FKN people. Nothing against Coffee Stain just wish more people were playing.
J-
P-
- The MMO DLC takes a really long time to load!
S-Â
- long load time.
Total-
Shiny / Sounds
V-
- Tis no Skyrim but considering the short development time ill give it a pass.
- On fourth thought, for an online-only MMO it looks pretty good.
- Sound was more an afterthought. I played the first hour before remembering to put on the headphones.
J-
- dat walking microwave. Â Â Everything it hits catches fire
P-
- There is some visual artifacting if I turn MSAA on.
S-
- I love reading what comes up in the chat window.
Total-
Control
V-
- Standard MMO lot. Special abilities were laid out logically
- WASD + gerbil worked as expected.
- Also, adjusting the gerbil sensitivity didn’t take half a day organ.
J-
- Same ol’ goat stimulator controls you know and love
P-
- Can’t really complain here.
- They work about as well as can be expected and it actually does let me rebind keys.
S-
- Fluid control for me switching from M&K to F710
Total-
FUN
V-
- This is the loneliest MMO I have ever played. It really feels like a single player RPG.
- HUGE features are missing. Like a LIFE meter and a proper crafting system.
- Don’t get me started on how busted the ONLINE part of this MMO is.
- I can clearly see other players but we are unable to communicate ಠ_à²
- I’m not the only one! Dozens are having the same issues in the forums.
J-
- This game broke my roommate.  Can’t get more fun than that
- I was sufficiently entertained
- Once again, Coffee Stain puts way too much effort into something that has no business being that fun
P-
- The DLC, much like the game itself, is still not particularly “funâ€.
- The social phenomenon that spun up around it, on the other hand, is.
- Namely the sheer amount of butthurt people when they realised it wasn’t actually online.
S-
- 2 achievements don’t work
- I’m just happy “Flappy Goat†didn’t move over either. FUCK YOU FLAPPY GOAT!

- TIL nvidia driver devs watch our shite
- Lo and behold, the Nvidia driver guy actually knows how the Nvidia driver works.
- Kudos sir.
- When I read that I was all “Hmm, dude knows his NVIDIA businessâ€
- Then it was “Why does that name ring a bell organâ€
- Oh, right. He’s the Senior Software Engineer/Linux graphics driver development guy from NVIDIA.
- Shite like this is why I will always recommend NVIDIA GPUs over AMD.
- Driver devs that actually know what they’re talking about? Well hot damn.
- Now I know for sure why it worked ootb on my end. T’was not the GPU but the monitors.

- I would not hold your breath organ.
- My big issue with the steam controller is that it started out as this really cool and unique idea, but as we see newer and newer revisions it just starts to look like another generic controller. Â Â Â I think creating a universally capable PC gaming controller may have been too ambitious a goal.
- No Steam Machines at CES: http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/valve-won-t-be-at-ces-2015-large-steam-machine-presence-planned-for-gdc-1273542
- But really, why go back to CES a year later with the same shit? “ Hey, come check out our rigs that you already seen.â€
