I see a penguin

http://store.steampowered.com/app/49520/

  • But will it blend?
  • Not in online mode.

    • No clue what you’re talking about.

      • Known bug causing crash on menu.
      • I really like how on the ball they are with bugs that come up

  • Cross platform multiplayer works.   Played up to the first boss with Mike Teehan and his friend on windows, no issues

Same day

http://blog.gameagent.com/borderlands-pre-sequel-coming-mac-linux/

  • First AAA simu release? *glares at Metro*

Shadowrun Online

http://store.steampowered.com/app/267750

  • As it says on the tin, an MMO taking place in the same world as ShadowRun Retu rns
  • I’m curious about it!

    • Unfortunately, I think it will suffer from the same kind of lack of immersion as the multiplayer mods for Fallout 1 and 2.

Stronghold 3

http://store.steampowered.com/app/47400/

  • Kill it! Get it out of here! KILL IT WITH FIRE!
  • Well, it runs like shite.

    • The entire game IS shite.

  • If you go on Metacritic (don’t know why you would) you’ll see it only got 1 Positive Critic review out of a total of 29.

    • Both IGN and GameSpot, notorious for their hype of games that turn out to be shit, gave the game negative scores.
    • If even those two said it was terrible, I don’t really think you should be going anywhere near that game.

Ahh-CHOOO (thank freejack)

  • Good on them for at least letting linux users know not to buy this one until they get the  port out
  • blah blah cross platform blahdy bleedily boop
  • Linux is hard, man!

Tesla Breaks the World!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/314210/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1

  • “OS: Linux 3.0 or later“ This does not inspire confidence

    • Don’tchu know? Linux is an OS, so they can call it by its kernel version!

      • Sorry, we only support Busybox/Linux.   What’s this GNU stuff?

Ugh, I remember playing this

Quit giving us keys!

http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/LeszekLisowski/20141001/226840/How_to_get_every_game_on_STEAM_for_free.php

  • Never thought of that but yeah, valid point is valid.
  • If you are throwing out wet stinky keys check /w the judge

    • If they are a Tuber make them contact you from that channel
    • If its a site make them contact you from an email associated /w ..the site.

  • Now you know where all those sketchy arse sites that offer discounted keys obtain them.
  • You can trust us though.    We’re totally not taking your keys and laughing at your stupidity.   No sir

AMD Catalystâ„¢ 14.9

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Linux%20x86_64

  • Oh hey, 3.15 kernel support, just in time for the 3.17 release

    • I’m on Ubuntu 14.04 and I have kernel 3.16.

  • You fucking clods
  • One chair

Nvidia is getting closer to supporting Wayland

http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/2ht4p4/nvidia_is_getting_closer_to_supporting_wayland/

  • Its a shame it’s all for naught.   Mir is the future.   All hail Shuttleworth

Tiled 0.10

http://blog.mapeditor.org/2014/09/tiled-010-released.html

  • Everyone’s favourite 2d and isometric map editor is back with a whole whack of improvements  and bugfixes

Updated Clonk

http://blog.openclonk.org/2014/09/achievement-unlocked/

  • Can you say, Terraria ripped us off and now we’re piggybacking on their reasonable success.
  • OG Clonk came out in 1994.
  • 2010 – Open Clonk sees the light of day.

    • Still uses 2D graphics but instead of sprites, the objects are now rendered in realtime.

  • Update brings Achievements and configurable Scenario Parameters
  • Fun project and it’s been around forever. Glad it’s still kicking.

Graywalkers: Purgatory

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dreamlordsdigital/graywalkers-purgatory-turn-based-post-apocalyptic

  • Played for 15min (wondering WTF) before I realized my brain organ misread ze title
  • That said, there is no chance I would recommend backing this project.
  • Seriously, if you don’t know that *.zip does not retain permissions I have zero faith in your ability to deliver a functional Linux port.

    • But Venn, don’t you know that Unity does all of that for you?!

  • To be fair, the demo sort of works.   Basically it’s a dark fantasy wasteland style game
  • Looks a bit shit to be honest

Game: Borderlands 2

Webzone: http://www.aspyr.com/games/borderlands-2

Devel: Gearbox/Ass-Pyre

Engine: Willow

Price: 19.99

Wazzat:  Play as one of four new vault hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them in 4 player co-op on a relentless quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and unpredictable living planet.

Makes with the working

V-

  • Does not remember windowed mode
  • I was having hella stuttering issues until I put the framerate limiter in YOLO mode.
  • Day one launch noped unless you were in offline mode. Bad form gents.

J-

  • A little slow on the draw, as to be expected of unreal 3 games
  • Cross platform multiplayer works out of the box

P-

  • Now I’m confident giving it 4 chairs, the last update fixed the herky-jerkyness and the random freezing.

Total-

Shiny / Sounds

V-

  • Sound and soundtrack were top of the notch
  • Voice work was just as good. I really wanted to kill clap shack
  • Graphics were great but there was no single point where I went Oooooh shiny!
  • Unreal Engine 3 is getting long in the tooth organ

J-

P-

  • For some reason it won’t hide the panel.

    • Latest update fixed it!

Total-

Control

V-

  • I can’t for the love of FMS find the perfect gerbil setting
  • The default layout worked minus the inventory key. ‘I†Really?
  • Like how it has cheat mode auto aim built in

J-

  • Standard FPS fare

P-

  • Why can’t I bind the Ctrl keys?

    • Because, since the Linux version is based on the Mac port and in MacOS Ctrl is used as a modifier to emulate a right click on those 1 button mice they have, someone forgot to remove that limitation.\

Total-

FUN

V-

  • It’s challenging and I don’t completely understand what the hell I’m doing …and that’s a good thing.
  • At first I was playing it full-metal FPS and getting killed to death …a lot.
  • Once you get on the quest bandwagon things pick up.

J-

  • This is a single player FPS MMO
  • The Aspie part of me likes the repetitive goals
  • The critic part of me gets a bit bored by it
  • It’s certainly a fun game, and the guys at gearbox did a good job of making it
  • The port is top notch as well

P-

  • I like it. But then again, I knew I probably would.
  • Much like its predecessor, it can get a bit grindy and repetitious.
  • It gets to a point where I just ignore the lower level enemies and carry on my way.
  • As far as Linux gaming goes, there really isn’t anything quite like it, so I’ll give it three chairs.
  • Doesn’t get 4 because being on Linux doesn’t excuse it from its repetitious-ness.

Final -

Even if you hate Shooters, buy this game.    It’ll give these guys some much deserved wet stinkies and help encourage more Developers to contract these guys for ports.

It’s a RPG

Correction, it’s an MMO-RPG. Go over there and kill X amount of monster Y and pick up item Z. It’s got a better story than most MMOs but considering how much more money 2K has over <insert random dev here>, it fucking well better!
