Steam News:

Alleged new Areola Controlla redesign

https://twitter.com/SteamDB/status/492005914862288896

  • There is a disturbing lack of D-pad in these new designs.  I really hope the touchpad can keep up

  • That thing looks like it could take one rage quit.

  • Now it has a penis!

Upcoming games? MAC/Linux

http://www.feralinteractive.com/en/upcoming/

  • If we get Grid-2 I shall build them a throne from the skulls of their enemies

  • Now that is just mean.

  • Grid 2 would actually be awesome if it did come out to Linux

Halfway

http://store.steampowered.com/app/253150/

  • Yet another TRPG for linux

    • …Not that  I’m complaining.   At least it’s not another FPS

  • Admittedly I’m curious about this one.

    • But I’m a big Fallout series fan, so I may be biased.

OlliOlli

http://store.steampowered.com/app/274250/

  • 0:14 on the trailer

    • At least they are upfront about it.

      • ^

GOG does Linux

  • Or so they claim…

  • Tried Flatout to see how it worked.

    • “Notice: game comes with a 32-bit binary only, this is a Wine game Patched to version 1.1†– http://www.gog.com/game/flatout

    • The game is from 2005 AND they did say outright on the store page that it is a WINE game. Even if they can’t spell WINE properly.

    • Flatout, specifically, cocks up my multi-monitor config

  • Called it

  • You know what would be nice?   If they took older games with linux clients and patched them up so that they work out of the box.   I’m looking at you UT2K4 and NWN

    • Yip!

Dungeon Colony

http://dungeoncolony.com/

  • …so…Dungeon Siege?

    • Dungeon Keeper, you mean?

      • NO I MEAN A TERRIBLE UWE BOLL MOVIE

      • JUST LIKE YOUR FACE

OpenApoc

https://github.com/pmprog/OpenApoc

  • Nothing like having a modern take on a classic game released on a new OS, to spur the nostalgia freaks into action!

IN SPAAACE! (seriously, that’s the fkn name)

Terreria?  FNA!

  • *anxiously awaits Magica as more XNA games start coming down the linux pipe*

  • *packs his bags and heads straight to hell *

    • *interrupting cow nods knowingly*

  • In all seriousness, it bills itself as a heart wrenching Visual Novel

  • the-shit-i-put-up-with-240x180.jpg

Buy one I still won’t

  • Because if there’s one thing a game from 2003 needs, it is Oculus support.

  • I guess OpenMW needs to be Oculus Rifted now.

Age of Wonders III coming to Linux

http://ageofwonders.com/tech-update-maclinux-port-steam-workshop-and-cloud-saves/

  • Fantasy Based Civilization with a different combat mechanic

  • They’ve just finished support for OpenGL rendering

  • They’re attempting to do a simultaneous release for Mac and Linux

    • Right not they’ve got the Main Menu working…

  • Nothing wrong with them.   They get the job done

  • For what it is, the controls work.

  • Still have to ding it a chair for the lack of a dedicated sprint button.

FUN?

V-

J-

P-

  • Pacing! Pacing is very important in an atmosphere-reliant game.

  • Pacing was what dictated Silent Hill 2 as a far superior horror game than most of its genre.

  • I see what they tried to do with having your character only sprint in certain specific scenarios but, to me, that detracts from the suspense.

    • “Wait, she’s running now… means there’s probably something behind me. Oh! There it is.â€

  • Giving a player more or less agency when it comes to how the character behaves makes or breaks the immersion for said player.

    • For me personally, not being able to move faster in the non-chase scenes was a dead giveaway that there would be specific points when your character would run instead of walking at that slow-ass pace.

      • Read: Immersion killer.
