  • Gotta love that caveman themed nudity

  • BREAKING: Garry unable to count

  • Gotta love thwacking people /w rocks

  • Oh and Venn, I was right. It is Unity!

  • Need to type “cursor.lock true†in the F1 console to get the mouse to behave.

  • 12/12/13 patch broke Linux support. 14/12/13 patch makes it work again.

Makes with the working

Shiny / Sounds

V-

  • Hipster, pixel, graphics.

J-

  • Terreria did it, so no points for originality

  • Gets the job done, but no bonus points

P-

  • Music is nice and smooth, most of the times you can’t even tell it’s there.

  • Graphics are meh! Like Jordan said, it’s Terraria all over again.

  • Bonus chair for the awesome background noise soundtrack, each planet/biome has its own and it does its job at immersing you in the game.

Total-

Control

V-

  • Yeah, it “controls†but clicking on the right top clicky buttons are a PITA unless it’s windowed.

J-

  • Controls are reasonable enough

  • My one gripe is that they tend to be all over the keyboard.    Closer to WASD == Good

P-

  • Are you seriously not letting people reassign their keyboard mappings? Really?!

  • Guess they’re working on it: http://imgur.com/LgT7Yfv

    • They have until Saturday to get a better score from me.

Total-

FUN

V-

  • 2D Minecraft in spaaaace

J-

  • Interesting premise, but I find I suffer from minecraft fatigue syndrome whilst playing it

  • Multiplayer is a bit stupid.  No steam integration, no clear indicator that you need to go to the game folder and launch the server executable from there

    • LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/.steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound ~/.steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/starbound_server

P-

  • The game is actually fun. I spent almost 8 hours on it in one sitting, playing with a couple of guys I met on twitch tv.

  • Problems arose when we needed to fight and fine motor controls became a necessity. Having to use my right hand on WASD meant I got killed in a matter of seconds.

  • I’d like to give this game at least 3 chairs, but if I can’t rebind my controls to something I can manage with it only gets 1.

Feedback:

Phobic

http://slexy.org/view/s2qH6HJ8vc

  • Badge of shame? We blasted it for being a poor Linux port with 90min of gameplay and zero replay value for $20. Everyone loved the story but it’s not Linux Story Cast.

    • Well, I liked the story up until the end.    Very weak payoff.   I was completely unsatisfied

    • Additionally, we don’t usually have adventure games on the review segment.   In fact, If memory serves it was the first.   I guarantee you that if we reviewed another adventure game had the same deficiencies as gone home, we would also apply that label to it.

  • Attention whoring aside, your argument about the non-gameness may have had some truth to it before Beyond Two Souls came along. That’s another non-game and one that if it had been on Linux would have gotten the exact same reaction from us.

  • While we’re on David Cage, Heavy Rain is an example of a non-game that is actually good! As are some of those older “adventure†titles.

  • Gone Home in the other hand is a sheet of LGBT paper wrapped around crappy game design, shoddy graphical work, non-existent optimization and 0 reason to exist in the first place.

    • Nope, we just hate the flags
