...Open your doors and invite someone that you may know will be alone to join you at your table...Holidays can be trying times for Individuals with an Addiction. As MY Sponsor once told me - "DANNY - IF IT AFFECTS YOUR SOBRIETY IN AN ADVERSE MANNER - THEN DON'T DO IT!" Good advice throughout the year, regardless whether it is a Holiday or just ANY OLE DAY! Because I work a program that has kept me sober - I am Thankful for the many invitations that I receive these days for me to join others/family /friends /Clients at their tables alongside their Parents / Children / Cousins / Friends. Not something that would have happened to me BEFORE I sobered up. In fact our AA Club will be hosting an ALL NIGHT Vigil in order to KEEP THE DOORS OPEN FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS THE COMPANY OR COMPANIONSHIP - Ultimately keeping ALL OF US SOBER! We will play cards, eat food, hold Discussion / Meetings - all with the intentions of keeping oneself for gettings lost in our minds. A place that when I was initially Sober - was considered to be a VERY BAD & UNSAFE PLACE TO GO. Having completed the 12 Steps repeatedly over these past 20 years, I no longer have to avoid ALONE TIME, as I have long since Forgiven Myself and have made amends with many individuals that I hurt when I was actively caught up in my Addiction.
