"I'm calling it my favorite record I've never heard." Mary Sparr of Bowling Green, KY has been in the music scene in one way or another since the day I met her (which was, for the record, nearly 6 years ago). From small, indie bands in the local scene to major country stars, it seems like Mary has seen/heard/worked with it all, including outlaw country musician Billy Don Burns. You may not know the name Billy Don Burns (yet), but you may be familiar with some of the names in country music that he has worked with - Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck are just a few. Billy Don is a songwriter, producer, and a legend in the world of country music, and he doesn't just play outlaw country. He lives it. His most recent record, A Night in Room 8, was released on Record Store Day in 2015. It was a record that would come to hold great meaning for Mary. She was there when the record was being cut. She hasn't listened since. Mary's story isn't just about loss and heartache. It's about starting over, and realizing that sometimes we are given the tools we need in life to face what is coming, even when we have no idea what that may be.
