Our text is once again Isaiah 9:6-7, this time focusing on the Messiah as “Everlasting Father.” This is the second reference in this text to Jesus’ divinity, and it also tells us much about what our divine savior is like: a father whose love is protecting, tender, teaching, and sacrificial.
