This week we are in Acts 19:23-41, the riot in Ephesus. Have you noticed in Acts that just about everywhere the believers go, there is either a riot or they get beat up? What is going on with that? All they are doing is saving, healing, teaching truth, caring for people – why all the hate? Here is the thing: The gospel exposes the idols of our hearts, and our flesh will fight to the death to protect those idols. Our text this week exposes three of humanity’s biggest idols: money, sex, and power. When these get threatened, either in our culture or in our own lives, riots and beatings tend to happen.
