This week we are in Acts 4:1-31, where Peter and John are arrested for preaching Jesus after healing the lame man. Their response is a remarkable picture of faithfulness under pressure, which can serve us well when our faithfulness is challenged – be it by the external pressures brought upon us by other people, or the internal pressures to compromise that come from our own flesh. We find here two decisions that help the disciples remain faithful: they have already settled the question of who they will obey, and they are already in the habit of receiving strength from Jesus.
