We are back in Amos with chapter 8 this week, and if you can believe it, it gets worse… this might be the harshest judgement in all of the bible as God Himself shows up to drop the hammer on His people.  The roughest part is that they don’t even realize that He is coming to judge them. They will be completely caught off guard because they have deceived themselves into thinking that they are OK the way that they are.  In a strange, but important way, God’s judgement is an act of redemption and rescue for a remnant few.  I keep thinking about the ways that we can creatively justify our own bad behavior while complaining about that of others.  It’s another doozy.
