This week we are kicking off a series around the topic of justice.  Justice, like love, is one of those sweeping terms that reminds me of an empty balloon.  We know it’s a good thing, so we embrace it.  But once we embrace the concept we have a tendency to then fill it with whatever our conception of that term is, making us ever susceptible to replacing a biblical concept of justice with a cultural definition.  Our aim is to do our best to understand God’s concept of justice, and to grow in our practice of it.

Most of the series will be in the book of Amos, but this week is sort of a preface, out of this verse: “The Word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.” (Ps 33:5)

This week’s teaching will be an introduction of the Bible’s take on justice and righteousness, preparing us to go deeper into the OT prophets.
