Grossman on Affordable Housing

Grossman on Affordable Housing.

Last September, there were special school elections in Dennis and Middle townships in Cape May County. School boards in both towns wanted voters to approve new borrowing and spending to raise taxes.

They could have added these questions to the November ballot at no cost, but they paid a lot of extra money for these special elections because they thought fewer taxpayers would vote in September. And they sent all sorts of notices reminding just school parents and employees to vote.

However, many taxpayers did vote, and they voted no by a lot. Will those local school officials now cut spending, or will they ask state government to ignore these votes and mandate more borrowing, spending, and higher taxes anyway?

Let's talk about why public schools are so expensive and how to make them affordable again.
