Welcome to Leaders and how they lead, the podcast series that spotlights different leaders and different leadership styles from across the world of sport.

This week’s guest is Nevin Truesdale, who has been with The Jockey Club for almost a decade, having joined as Finance Director in 2013. His time at The Jockey Club follows a near five-year stint as Finance Director at the UK’s leading energy supplier British Gas. He also serves as a NED at Sport United Against Dementia.

The Jockey Club is one of the UK’s leading sports and hospitality businesses, operating 15 racecourses including Aintree (home of the Grand National) and Cheltenham, where the organisation is responsible for the annual four-day Cheltenham Festival.

Truesdale became CEO in August 2020, following a challenging period for the organisation with the appointment and then swift departure of Truesdale's predecessor Delia Bushell, and in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Upon taking the role, Truesdale made extensive changes to leadership and completed an overhaul of the business structure, culture and strategy”.
