The New York Giants' Winning Culture
For the latest edition of the Leaders Performance podcast we delve into the archives to bring you this session from the 2013 Leaders Performance Summit in New York. We welcomed New York Giants Owner and President John Mara and General Manager Jerry Reese onstage to discuss the creation of a winning culture that led to Super Bowl success in 2007 and 2011.
This warmly received session, moderated by Rick Horrow, is ripe for revisiting, particularly as the team continues to bed-in new Head Coach Ben McAdoo, who went 11-5 in his first season. NFL observers feel that the Giants have an excellent chance of pushing for the playoffs again in 2017 and their efforts, aided as they are by one of the league’s best defences, will be rooted in the strength of their culture.
Further topics covered on the day included:
-Why you can never presume to have all the answers
-The value of having a few ‘alley cats’ or maverick talents in your team
-The Giants’ journey from instability to the Super Bowl
-Micromanagement vs macromanagement
-Why Mara’s mum was not afraid to put her son in his place
