Planning 101: Your Guide to Making Your FastPass+ Selections
You're going to Walt Disney World! Great! Let's start stressing about scheduling your FastPasses.Just kidding. No reason to stress. We're here for you. FastPass+ can be kind of confusing on your first go around, but after you go through the process once you will be good to go for the future.BEFORE your 60 day (if you are staying at a Disney Resort) or 30 day (if you aren't staying on property) mark hits, there are a few things you need to do in preparation for FastPass+ scheduling.First, check out the Park Hours and decide which Park you are visiting each day of your stay. Look at Extra Magic Hours (whether you plan to use them or to avoid them), how early or late Parks are open, etc. Once you have decided how to fill your days, you can make the next important decision in preparation for FastPass+.Next, make your Dining Reservations. As you can make these reservations 180 days in advance, this can almost be Step 1 (but, obviously, you need to know where you are going to be each day before you know where to eat). Whenever you make your Dining Reservations, make sure it happens BEFORE you schedule your FastPasses. This is crucial! You need to avoid any time conflicts. Know when you are eating and make sure you don't schedule your FastPasses too close either before or after. You don't want to put yourself in a pickle. If you can schedule a FastPass kind of near where you are eating, that's fine, but don't assume everything will go perfectly and that you will get in and out of your meal without a wait. Finally, before you schedule your FastPass+ options, make sure you pick your 3 Attraction priorities for each day and when you would like to ride each of them. This is what you will be scheduling, so please speak to the people in your party and come to an agreement (so you all have the exact same schedule). What attractions are on your MUST DO list? Make sure to decide what attractions you have to have a FastPass for on each day of your trip. Also, in light of your dining reservations, have an idea of when you would like to ride/view each attraction or show you are planning to get a FastPass for. If you have this planned, then your FastPass+ scheduling process will be so much easier.SIDENOTE: We wrote a blog about being smart in choosing your FastPass+ selections awhile back. Don't waste your FastPass+ options and be sure you understand the Tier system at Hollywood Studios and Epcot! Here's the link. NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE REAL FUN!!!Okay, you can schedule your FastPasses either on the Walt Disney World website or on the My Disney Experience app. I find the app very confusing and difficult. It's much easier to use the disneyworld.go.com website. Both will ask the same questions, so this guide will be helpful either way. (You do have to have a valid park ticket to be able to go through the entire process. If your ticket is attached to your room reservation, the site or app will ask you to give your confirmation number before you can make your FastPass selections.)On the website, you can go to the My Disney Experience tab on the far right. In the drop down, you will see FastPass+ as an option. On the app, you will see FastPass+ under "Explore" in the drop down menu on the left.Anywho...here's our guide to the FastPass+ scheduling process. Most of it is self-explanatory, but some aspects are confusing and may give you a panic attack.First, pick the option that says you are scheduling new FastPasses. There will be several options but select the one that is all about NEW choices. You'll be asked which day you are scheduling for. You will have to select each day's FastPasses individually. It's kind of a hassle, but what are you going to do. *If you are wanting to make sure you get a FastPass for a relatively new attraction where there might be high demand, feel free to schedule your days out of order so you get what you want. Next, choose which Park you are selecting your FastPasses for. You'll be asked who is travelling in your party. DO NOT
