Disney at Home: A Very Merry Disney Christmas Tree

December 13, 2015

We love Christmas! We love Disney! It just makes sense for us to have a Very Merry Disney Christmas tree. Not that our tree is anything spectacular, but we thought at this time of year it would be appropriate to share our tree in hopes that some of you might show us your festive Disney Christmas creations. Our first (and favorite) Disney Christmas ornaments began to be acquired during our Disneymoon in 2012. We absolutely fell in love with the Ear Hat ornaments. We started with three (to get the great deal of 3 for $50 which makes the third ornament almost free). Now we have 10:Rapunzel TianaBuzzWoodyCaptain HookUrsulaBig Thunder MountainSpace MountainHaunted MansionWalt Disney World IconsWhile we hope our collection is not complete, we are a little sad that Disney Parks seem to be investing now more in the character Shoe ornaments, which don't really appeal to us. Still, we love the Ear Hat ornaments we do have and know they will be our pride and joy for years to come. (Honestly, we like to display them all year round because that's how much they delight our hearts.)We also have an assorted set of Disney Store ornaments from two years ago. They came six in a box and are just delightful. They aren't high quality but we like almost all the characters presented (Pooh & Friends, Princesses, Muppets, Nightmare Before Christmas, Jungle Book, and Alice in Wonderland). They will be very fun for children to put on the tree some day (because my breakable Ear Hats are going to be put up by Mommy or Daddy, proving I have many issues with priorities).A couple years ago, we were strolling around Target and I saw the greatest Advent ornaments EVER! 25 Disney tin ornaments that can be opened up to put goodies inside. While Chris and I don't yet take advantage of this feature, we absolutely love putting up the next ornament each day of December until Christmas. We love the classic characters presented, especially Peter Pan, Mickey and Pooh who all three mean so much to us personally. These ornaments will be a special part of our Christmas tradition for years to come! (P.S. Thanks to my big sis for buying these for us because I was too cheap to buy them for myself despite how desperately I wanted them!)Other pieces of our Disney Christmas tree all revolve around a slightly more recent Disney property - Star Wars. Yeah, I got lucky that Disney purchased LucasFilm awhile back or these ornaments would not fit our theming (thanks for taking one for the team, George, for oh so many reasons). I have loved Star Wars obsessively since elementary school. My parents have been buying me Star Wars ornaments for a long time, so my collection started as a 4th or 5th grader. My pride and joy is my Han Solo Hallmark ornament - it gets central placement on the tree and in my heart. I love that old scruffy nerf herder. Next, R2-D2 talks to me all Christmas long and has never needed his batteries changed, so kudos to that! Finally, I have several Clone Trooper ornaments. While I am past my stage of adoring Clone Troopers as the hottest of the trooper set, I still look back fondly on that period of my strange little Star Wars life. I would love to add Chewie to the family someday, but we will see if that comes to pass.Another priceless treasure is my Peter Pan Hallmark ornament. What better expresses my personality than my favorite Disney character soaring over my favorite place in the world: London, England? (Yes, I know, surprisingly not Disney World.) The background is set alight from behind my connecting a Christmas light to the back. I adore this ornament!Chris got creative this year and started adding our Magic Bands to the tree. I thought this was a great use of a bit of Disney memorabilia that otherwise just sits around our house collecting dust. For now, this is our Very Merry Disney Christmas tree. It isn't the most fantastically themed tree in the world, but it brings us holiday joy. We know this perfect theming will not last forever -
