Just A Dream Away
GUEST BLOG: A Fantasy At Sea: Top 5 Things I Loved About the Disney Cruise Line
I have always been a Disney fan. If you have been reading Sarah’s blog posts here, you know we were raised in a Disney loving home. I have always enjoyed the parks and there really is nothing like a Disney vacation (okay, except maybe a trip to my favorite city in the world, Paris). A few years ago, our Mom and Dad went on a Disney Cruise for their 30th wedding anniversary. They came home telling us all about how wonderful it was to be on a Disney Cruise. They did another trip about two years ago and had another great experience. They began telling me that I would also love traveling with the Disney Cruise Line. About a year ago, I began thinking about what I wanted to do to celebrate my 30th birthday. Mom and Dad offered to take me on a special vacation to celebrate! We decided to go during my school Fall Break (I am a French teacher). It was hurricane season but we decided to take the risk and booked a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Disney Fantasy. We planned and researched and packed and counted down the days until our special trip. And what a trip it was! I plan on sitting down with Chris and Sarah for a special trip report sometime soon for the podcast. For now, here are the top 5 things that I loved about the Disney Cruise Line: 1) The Food! The Disney Cruise Line prides itself on its exclusive “Rotational Dining” experience. There are three restaurants that you and your service team rotate through throughout the trip for dinner. On the Disney Fantasy, the three restaurants are Animator’s Palate, The Royal Court and Enchanted Garden. Dad had talked up all the amazingness of eating aboard the ship so I was ready. From the very first night, I was hooked! I was so excited about the choices each night. I got to try so many new foods and to indulge in things I wouldn’t normally order. My favorite meal, by far, was at The Royal Court, which is French cuisine-themed (not a surprise). I had a wonderful plate of escargots for my appetizer, classic French onion soup, crispy duck breast for my entrée and crème brulée with Tahitian vanilla for dessert. Another highlight of my food experience aboard the Fantasy was our special brunch at Palo, the adults-only restaurant. It was a buffet brunch with a good mixture of breakfast and lunch foods with both cold and hot options. A server even picks up the food off the buffet for you! We got a good selection of things from the buffet and then order hot entrées as well. I had a delicious lasagna and we shared a pizza at our table. 2) THE PIRATE PARTY!!!! I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies so I knew I was going to enjoy the Pirates in the Caribbean Party on the cruise. Mom and I made simple Pirate costumes so that we could join in on the fun. We started our evening with the Pirates Deck party where Captain Hook tries to take over the ship. Seeing the characters dressed up in all their Pirate gear was so fun! Our dinner that night was in Animator’s Palate. The screen show included concept art from the Pirates films as well as a look at pirates in other Disney animated films. The scene was further set by the sound track of the Pirates films. I was a huge fan of this because the sound track is one of my favorite things about the films. I often listen to it while I work! The food on Pirate night was also appropriately themed and very good. We didn’t get to see the show on the deck that featured the famous Captain Jack Sparrow because we wanted to make sure we had a good spot for the big Buccaneer Blast!&nb
