Just A Dream Away
Sarah's Rare Character Meet and Greet Wish List
Have you ever seen an old picture from Walt Disney World of children joyfully (or sometimes with a slight look of terror) meeting a character that no longer can be found in the Parks? Often, we will even see pictures online of awesome Character Meet and Greets from the international Parks that you would never find in Disneyland or Walt Disney World. I have also come across characters in old parades that made me wonder, "What happened to that costume? Why don't they bring that out anymore?"All this Character Meet and Greet envy got us thinking...what random or rare characters would we love to see in Walt Disney World? Even though we are not big fans of meeting characters, we would likely pause and consider giving up some time to meet these unique personalities (probably). Sarah's Character Wish List1.) Darkwing Duck - This costume exists! Once upon a time, there was a Disney Afternoons stage show in the Magic Kingdom (watch it on YouTube 'cause it's sensational). Supposing that Disney hordes old costumes, this amazing character should be able to return to the Parks. Maybe have him come home to us for a limited time thing where other Disney Afternoon Characters would also be out and about for meeting and greeting? I know this would be extremely popular and many people of my generation would make a special trip to get dangerous with Darkwing Duck.2.) Dodger from Oliver and Company - A few times within the last year, a picture has gone around the Disney Twitterverse of an Oliver and Company parade from yesteryear. On the float were multiple characters from the film, including my dearly beloved Dodger. I want to meet the, in my opinion, absolutely coolest character in Disney animated films. Have "Why Should I Worry?" playing in the background and I would be unspeakably happy. 3.) Rattigan and Basil from The Great Mouse Detective - Here is another one that the Internet set off a jealous need within me. I saw a picture within the last year of the great Vincent Price with a Rattigan non-face character. My imagination went wild with longing! I want to see these two seriously underrated characters come to the Park - both Basil of Baker Street and his nemesis, Rattigan. With the extreme popularity of everything and anything Sherlock Holmes related, I know this would be a hit!4.) Bernard and Bianca - Someone posted a picture of these Rescuers meeting fans in one of the Asian Parks and I got seriously jealous. Bring these brave mice to America! There is room for more than just Mickey and Minnie in our hearts! There is no such thing as mouse overcrowding in my affection!5.) Robin Hood and Little John - These are two characters that often appear in retro Disney Parks family pictures, and boy do I love these guys! But even as recent as Modern Family's visit to Disneyland were they featured on television, so those costumes definitely are still alive and well. Let's bring my boys of Sherwood Forest back and let their adoring public meet them again. If you can even throw Prince John and his dirty thumb into the mix, I would be so delighted.
