Just A Dream Away
What We Bought: Our July 2015 Walt Disney World Merchandise Haul
When you visit Walt Disney World, you will inevitably buy souvenirs and other assorted merchandise. That is pretty much how it works. No matter how many times I tell myself, "I am a grown up. I won't be buying anything this trip," I still find some things I cannot live without. However, I do think on our July 2015 trip, we basically knew in advance what we would be picking up before we got to the World. We really did not make any unforeseen purchases, so no unrestrained spending went on in extravaganza form. Nope, we knew this would be our last trip for awhile, so we made purchases of things we absolutely knew we wanted (maybe things we have wanted for more than one trip) that would somehow fit with our other Disney collectibles.(SIDENOTE: I am a terrible photographer of merchandise. The pictures below totally stink. I apologize in advance.) First off, Chris wanted to collect all four of the Starbucks "You Are Here" mugs exclusive to each of the four Parks. I was totally on board with that decision. While I have a lot of Disney mugs in our home, Chris has maybe one mug to his name. He deserves his own set. Also, Chris was pretty sure these would be mugs to collect, rather than for use. We have no decor in our kitchen/eating space, so these mugs could help solve our decorating problems. We did have to be pretty intentional with these purchases; we made sure to drop by each Park's Starbucks on our last visit to that Park and always on our way out the door so we wouldn't be carrying breakables around with us. But, this was absolutely worth it. The mugs look great! We love the minimalist design that stil captures so many treasured details of each Park. The color scheme is easy on the eyes and they all look appealing when you put them together as a set. We can't wait to find small shelves so we can display them on our wall!Second, we knew we would be making Vinylmation purchases. Park Exlcusive Vinylmation are a must for us whenever we get down to WDW. The Peter Pan set was still relatively new, and as this is my absolute favorite Disney animated film, I knew I needed to pick up at least a couple of these vinyls. This was a little hard, as Vinylmation are pretty much gone from the Park gift shops. Chris and I picked up our Peter Pan Vinylmation from Mouse Gears in Epcot. We don't always have the best luck with Vinylmation. I managed to score a Wendy Darling and a John Darling. I was thrilled with getting John, as he comes with two accessories, a hat and an umbrella. Chris got Nana, a great addition, and Wendy. At this point, we were a little sad to have two Wendy vinyls, but knew we could trade her later at our local Disney Store. Now if we could somehow find a Michael Darling and complete the Darling family figures in this set (sigh). Another happy Vinylmation find happened at Hollywood Studios. The Animation Gallery randomly had the Han and Luke Medal Ceremony duo, which obviously I had to have! In addition, they had the Mickey and Friends Pirates of the Caribbean combo pack. Pirates is one of my favorite attractions, so having Mickey dressed as Jack Sparrow was a must. My blind box figure ended up being Minnie dressed as Elizabeth Swan; I despise Elizabeth Swan from the Pirates films, but having Minnie and Mickey together was exactly the combination I wanted! I was very happy to pick up both of these special combo sets. (Sidenote: I had received Disney gift cards from loved ones, so I payed very little of my own money to get these special sets! My family knows what I like! Thanks, family!)On a Pirates note, I had previously collected all but two of the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 set of 12 Vinylmation on earlier trips. I was really after the peg leg parrot Chaser, but knew the set was old and probably not in the Parks any longer. That ended up being the case. However, I found a ton of them at the Marketplace Fun Finds shop at what was then Downtown Disney in the 5 for $20 section of the store. Success on the Chaser
