How journalists can avoid rising to the bait in covering Trump
Jay Rosen is a media critic and professor of journalism at New York University. He's also an observer of the trends and troubles affecting the media industry, which he documents on his blog, PressThink.org and on Twitter. Since 2015, Rosen has focused his critical eye on how the press has covered the candidacy and subsequent presidency of Donald Trump, whose effusive and combative style Rosen says has altered the norms of political reporting.
Recently, Rosen posted a thread on his Twitter feed outlining a set of strategies political journalists and newsrooms can employ to more effectively navigate the "new norm" and not rise to the bait of Trump's rhetoric. He joins Producer Michael O'Connell on this week's It's All Journalism podcast to discuss this thread.
