IMPACT STIGMA
Children Need Champions!
ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS!!! This episode of Impact Stigma was made just for you! Mental health issues affecting children and youth in our communities and across the world is certainly not a new concept, however, with a dramatic increase directly related to the struggles and stress of dealing with COVID-19 our children’s mental wellbeing is more important than ever. We must be their mental health champions!
For this episode, we share how stigma specifically effects children and youth in need of mental health treatment, how to better communicate with them, and we share types of treatment that actually work. Our guest today is the Site Director for Frontier Health’s Adventure Program. This program is for youth under 17 that are struggling with substance use disorder and have a cooccurring mental health issue as well. Maranda Conner has her MS, LPC, LPC-MHSP, EMDR Certified, CSOTP and is almost finished with her EMDRIA Consultant Training.
Maranda is quite passionate about her “Babies” as she calls them and is joining us to share her personal story and talk with us about how mental health stigma is stopping our children and youth from getting help. She shares sound advice for parents and caregivers about effective communication when talking about mental health and what we can all do to Impact Stigma!
