Illuminating Anorexia & Eating Disorder Recovery

Overcoming the lie ‘you’re not good enough’

December 20, 2016

Anorexia and other eating disorders reflect a hunger for life – a hunger to know oneself as loved, worthwhile, of value, and to feel secure within. This may surprise you because you may know someone who has developed an eating disorder and think they come from a good family; they’ve had good life experiences; why are they struggling? When a person develops an eating disorder they buy into the LIE that they are not good enough and believe they can make themselves ‘worthy’ by lifting their game in the areas in which they feel deficient (food & weight control being one of these). As the person continues along this path of diminishing returns, the lie grows and they lose connection with their sense of worth and value. The vicious cycle turns and the ED bind tightens. Here are a few thoughts about how to break through the lie and re-establish worth and value in a person who no longer believes or experiences themselves as having worth & value.  If you need help in this area it would be my pleasure to assist you.
