2023 Chevrolet Equinox Review, Prices, Trims, Specs And Photos

June 30, 2023
Overview

The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox is a big compact crossover SUV.  It’s the top-selling crossover SUV in Chevy’s line-up.  And second in US sales in the overall Bow tie brand.  Being bested by only Silverado.

Seating five in two rows, Equinox is versatile.  Highly capable of moving people, carrying stuff, and even a bit of towing.  And depending on your preference.  It can be configured to do it all with a more upscale classy or athletic and sporty look and stance.

New For 2023 Chevrolet Equinox

The model year 2023 brings a few new aspects to Chevrolet Equinox.  Including Midnight and Sport Editions for the LS trim.  Plus electronic power-assisted braking.  And a couple of new exterior paint options.  Radiant red tintcoat, Sterling gray metallic, and Harvest bronze metallic.  Finally, and our favorite, Equinox adds a few horses under the hood.  Bumping its 1.5L turbocharged engine to 175 hp.

2023 Chevrolet Equinox Trims And Pricing

With four different Equinox trims to choose from.  Plus optional Sport, Midnight, and Redline Edtion packages.  Chevy Equinox is a crossover SUV capable of taking on the look of any part you’d like to play.  From classy to sporty or rough and rugged.

  • LS $26,600
  • LT $27,700
  • RS $30,700
  • Premier $31,800

In addition to Chevy’s trim offerings, Equinox is available with popular Midnight and Redline Edition packages.  Midnight mostly provides aesthetic components blacking out the vehicle and is available on the LS trim.  While Redline builds upon that, but takes it to another level with components and detail.  Plus adding red accents throughout  Equinox’s componentry.  Redline is available on Premier trim.

Engine And Transmission

Regardless of the Equinox you choose, the same engine and transmission is being added for 2023.  But the decision you’re still having to make is front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

So the engine is a spirited 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.  Putting out 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque.  And it’s paired with an efficient and smooth six-speed automatic.

This leaves you to decide if you want FWD or AWD for your drivetrain.  And both are available across all trims.  But either way, you are able to tow up to 1,500 lbs with Equinox.

Fuel Economy Ratings

MPG is solid for the 2023 Equinox.  With the EPA estimates reporting respectable fuel economy metrics across both optional drivetrains.

MPG Ratings

  • FWD 26/28/31
  • AWD 24/26/30

*City/combined/highway

Depending on the configuration.  Equinoix’s curb weight comes in as low as 3,274 lbs – LS trim with FWD.  Up to 3,512 lbs for the Premier trim with AWD.

2023 Chevrolet Equinox – What’s It Look Like?

The Chevrolet Equinox is sharp looking for 2023.  And it was hard to state as much just a few years back.  However, that sort-of humdrum look has been shed.  And Equinox is in line with the rest of the Chevrolet crossover SUV lineup.

In any configuration, it’s a good-looking vehicle.  And since Chevy sells so many Equinox SUVs there are many options to make it look the way you want.  Or maybe it’s the many options that help Chevy sell so many of the compact crossovers.  Either way, if you want a more classy and luxury-looking crossover – Equinox has you covered.  Likewise, if you’re aiming for a more athletic and sporty-looking SUV – yep, Equinox delivers there too.

Inside The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox

Equinox has a spacious and smartly appointed interior.  It feels more like a midsize than a compact inside.  And higher level trim configurations provide surprisingly upscale materials and designs.

Infotainment And Connectivity

We’ve been loving the infotainment interface in Chevy for a number of years now.  And that holds true for the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox.

The infotainment touchscreen that tops the center stack is an intuitive and easy-to-use 7-inch – standard on LS, LT, and RS trims.  Then the Premier trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen standard.  And that bigger screen is available on LT and RS trims.

Connecting to your smartphone is easy with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay standard equipment.  Wireless charging is also available but only on Premier trims.

Safety And Driver Assistance

Delivering safety and driver assistance seems to be a General Motors prerequisite for Chevy vehicles.

Standard equipment includes a teen driver application, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, and front pedestrian braking. Also available are front and rear park assist, HD rear vision, and surround vision.  Plus rear cross-traffic alert, safety alert seat and more.
