E-SPORTS & TOURNAMENTS

Ril:  Cal Berkeley Golden Bears are the Heroes of the Dorm! In the wake of Blizzard’s history-making tournament, the internet exploded with controversy. The Heroes of the Dorm finals were broadcasted live on ESPN2. Gamers were ecstatic, while non-gamers were confused and even appalled to find eSports on a sports network. SB Nation said “Heroes of the Dorm on ESPN proves eSports are meant for TV.†[summarize article, talk about critiques they gave ESPN’s editing crew for making the experience better next time]

Mike:  theScore eSports reported feeling the need for hero bans, at least for tournament play. [summarize article, talk about pros and cons of bans]

Kali:  There were some pretty hateful things said by one ESPN commentator that I feel need to be addressed. Colin Cowherd went above and beyond on his show to incite prejudice against gamers and to be extremely disrespectful. He went on a 3 minute rant, including such comments as, “If I am ever forced to cover guys playing video games, I will retire†and “Somebody lock the basement door at mom's house and don't let 'em outâ€. I have news for you Colin - eSports are here to stay, and we certainly don’t want or need you, especially if all you want to do is spew hate. Bye, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

PATCH NOTES

Ril:  GosuGamers was live at the Heroes of the Dorm finals to interview some of the Blizzard developers. The official word is: “The internal pace in which new patches are to be released has increased, and it was strongly implied a patch will be out in the next two or so weeks.â€

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Ril:  Thanks for the keys again!

I wouldn't say it was early at least since I was still at work at the time... No time zones never get old...

As for doing a bumper I can do a slightly demonic voice which with some echo could pass off as Diabloish... I could do something like "Who will be my opponents this week?" I've never added effects to voices but if you can it might help.

And I'll tell them to leave you the reviews and since I'm one of those 40 year old, long haired, tattooed guys I can stand over them until they do as well.

Also I'd like to say thanks for keeping the show PG. I generally listen to the show in the car on my iPod and my 11 year old son who plays as well (and hit 40 about 3 weeks ago) listens when we're going to and from places.
