Topic: This is a confusing topic even for professionals and difficult to describe accurately. But the way Deb and I discuss engagement of the horse's hindquarters, or pelvic engagement, is functionally not that different from how we ideally stabilize through our pelvis. Instead of sticking with strictly scientific terms, we talk about what it means for the pelvis to engage and what it means when the pelvis disengages, from the perspective of balance and functional use or the job of the pelvis in the body. Hopefully this helps clarify what it means to engage or disengage our horse's hindquarters, and how engagement or disengagement of our pelvis directly affects our balance in the saddle
