Topic: Muscles support movement of the skeleton. When the skeleton is in poor coordination then the muscles that support poor movement are worked during a warm up session - not the same muscle use or even the same muscles required for balance or collection. Speed and gaits will warm up the cardiovascular system but how the skeleton coordinates movement dictates which muscles are actually increasing circulation and which are either not working or over working and reducing circulation. Going faster does not necessarily warm the body up as a preparation for more complex work because it depends entirely on how the body is coordinating during slow warm up work.
