Topic: Instead of spending a lot of time working on conditioned responses or desensitizing our horses over and over, it becomes much more efficient to help our horse develop coping skills by working with the use of the nervous system as part of training. When we help our horse focus mentally on us or the task at hand with calm energy, our horse learns to think through challenges instead of reacting all the time. Our horse's most prevalent emotional state is what makes the difference between our horse self regulating behavior from the inside out and us needing tactics and devices to gain compliance or obedience from our horse. The idea that our horse can learn to pause and think through challenges is respecting the intelligence of our horse and in turn our horse more willingly cooperates with the different things we want to do.
