The Inner Voices of Jungian Psychology – Robin Robertson

January 27, 2017

"We have already seen that Jung believed that everything that eventually emerges into consciousness originates in the unconscious; i.e., the unformed archetypes achieve form as we experience them in our outer lives and in our dreams. Thus it is not sufficient to look at the events of our lives causally; we also had to look at them from a teleological point-of-view.
That is, not only are we pushed forward by our past actions, we are also pulled forward by the actions we need to take, many of which are contained within us as archetypes. Because dreams are the most common and most normal expression of the unconscious psyche, they provide the bulk of the material for its investigation."
Those words were by the Jungian philosopher, psychologist, and author, Robin Robertson who I have the pleasure of interviewing in this episode of the Gnostic Warrior Radio Show and Podcast. Robin is the author of well over a dozen books and has spent a life-time bridging the worlds of psychology, science, business and the arts.
Robin has separate undergraduate degrees in mathematics and English literature, as well as an M.A. in counseling psychology, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. He has many books that focus on Jungian psychology. Since 1986, he has been a writer, editor, columnist and editorial board member of the Jungian journal "Psychological Perspectives"
In this podcast, Robin discusses his extensive work on Carl Jung and what inspired him to become a Jungian. He explains Jungian philosophy of the Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious.
Learning from the teachings of Jung as he started his journey, Robin later forged his own identity by following his heart and listening to his inner voice. A voice that is within us all that some call God and Jungians might call Archetypes, which beckons us to partake in the Great Work.
Robin and I talk about our dreams that bridge between conscious and unconsciousness. Messages from the netherworld to help instruct us while we wake.
