TRANSCRIPT

Andrew:                 What’s up, Gator Country? Your man, Andrew Spivey, here with Nicholas de la Torre. Nicholas, Friday before South Carolina week, and it has been a busy as hell week. Ready to get back in the Swamp.

Nick:                         Last game in the Swamp for a bunch of seniors. Last game in the Swamp for a bunch of juniors. We can project, won’t be breaking anything this week, but we can project there will be a couple juniors playing their last game in the swamp.

Andrew:                 Let me ask you this real quick. It’s something that I’ve noticed some teams around the country have done, and that is that they’re letting the juniors come out if they want for that. Are you for or against that? I’ll give you my opinion.

Nick:                         I’m against it.

Andrew:                 Okay.

Nick:                         I’m against it. That’s something for seniors.

Andrew:                 See, that’s mine as well. I think it’s one of those deals where that’s the special thing you get by coming back. You don’t get to say, “I’m a junior, so I’m declaring my last game.” No. I’m sorry.

Nick:                         Not even a Vernon Hargreaves, who when his letter of intent came in you knew that was three years. No chance of four. That was three. Not even someone like that. I 100% agree with you. That is a reward. That moment with your family, that moment to be acknowledged, that’s your reward. I almost didn’t even like, they kind of like ran through it last year. I don’t know if it was a McElwain thing, or just the way they did it, but they kind of went, start the game a little bit later. Let these guys get their moment. Someone like Michael Iorio, walk on defensive back, rarely if ever heard his name called. Let him have a minute. Let him have 45 seconds, whatever it is. Let him have that time to be recognized on the field. Mark Herndon, guys like that. Jarrad Davis, probably not going to play. Let him have a moment. Give him the damn mike.

Andrew:                 See that’s the thing too that I think should be special. Give them a second. Let them, let Jarrad Davis soak in that 30 seconds of the Swamp just going crazy for him. Let Marcus Maye soak in that 30 seconds of the Swamp going crazy for him. I mean, we can pick on Ahmad Fulwood all we want, Ahmad Fulwood’s a guy that is very active with the fans. Let him soak it up. At the end of the day, they are guys, and I think it’s cool. I think, Nick, I know you and I have both been through Senior Days, and it’s one of the most special moments you’ll ever be a part of. It’s special. It really is. It’s special. You and I only did it on the high school level, not to mention being in front of 90,000 in college.

Nick:                         Yeah. Jim McElwain kind of got choked up when he was asked about it yesterday. I remember my Senior Night. We didn’t even do it at our field, because our field was getting worked on. I remember my Senior Night. Loved it. Loved being out there with my mom, my dad. Yeah. I think it would kind of take away from that meaning if you allowed juniors to do it.

Andrew:                 I agree. I think it’s one of those deals where, and this is bad to say, for instance Jalen Tabor, I mean, we’re not breaking
