GameTime Cleveland 172: Playoff Baseball
The Indians are in the playoffs! We’ll preview the Rays/Indians wildcard game and look back at the amazing finish that got them there. We’re also talking about the red hot Browns who are now 2-0 since trading Trent Richardson. And the Buckeyes remain perfect after opening Big Ten conference play. It’s GameTime!

Running Time: 43:30
1Q: Tribe Earns Top Wildcard Spot
Thanks to a miraculous finish to the season, the Indians clinched the top WildCard spot and will face the winner of Monday’s Rays/Rangers play-in game.
The Indians won 10 straight to finish 92-70. They were scorching in September, going 21-6 in the month of September.
Ubaldo finished the year like a true Ace, striking out a career high 13 in Sunday’s season-ender against Minnesota.
Here’s how it went against Tampa this season.
2Q: The Indians Host the Wildcard Game on Wednesday
By finishing as the top wildcard team, the Indians get to host a one game playoff against the 2nd wildcard team.
Because Tampa and Texas finished in a tie for the 2nd wildcard, they had to play each other Monday night to determine who would advance to play us on Wednesday.
The winner of Wednesday’s game goes on to play #1 seed Boston in the ALDS best of five round beginning on Friday in Boston.
Rookie Danny Salazar will get the start on Wednesday. But you can be sure Manager Terry Francona will have everyone at the ready in case he gets into trouble.

3Q: Browns win the Battle of Ohio and even their season record
The team got a rare division win by beating the Bengals 17-6 at the Lakefront.
Brian Hoyer led the team on a late touchdown drive again to give us a little breathing room on the scoreboard.
The defense was amazing once again, shutting down a high powered Bengals’ offense to two field goals.
The DBs played great as Joe Haden shut down AJ Green. Buster Skrine made some terrific plays and the front seven was their typical self in preventing any kind of ground game whatsoever.
2-2 feels real good, especially after the pathetic start to the year. So much for tanking.
We’re in a 3 way tie for first after Baltimore lost. The Steelers are 0-4.
4Q: Urban and the Buckeyes remain perfect, hold off Wisconsin
Braxton was back and the foe was tougher than what we had seen so far. But the Buckeyes beat the Badgers 31-24 at the Shoe.
Miller threw 4 TDs in his return from injury.
Defense is still a worry.
Another tough test on Saturday night as we travel to #16 Northwestern.
OSU lost Safety Christian Bryant for the season with a broken ankle. Meyer will turn to Corey “Pitt” Brown, redshirt freshman Tyvis Powell and freshman Vonn Bell to fill the void.
OSU will try to take advantage of Northwestern’s terrible pass defense. The Wildcats give up over 308 yds passing per game, which is 117th out of 123 teams in the FBS.
