First Presbyterian Church of Evanston Sermon of the Week
Waiting On God Is Time Well Spent (Habakkuk 2:1-5)
Waiting assumes that something is forthcoming. The Word of God will inevitably come, sooner or later; however, for many, the problem lies in understanding time, from God’s perspective. It was while waiting in silence that the prophet heard God’s plan to address the problem of evil. God’s timing for the fulfillment of the message will be perfect. Wait for it. While Judah’s judgment will begin quite soon (586 b.c.), God’s punishment of the Babylonians will not happen until 539.
