How to be Healthy: Your Plans for 2013
If you are looking at what plans to make for 2013, you may consider many areas of life, but don’t forget the most important topic of How to be Healthy. If you think it’s not doable because you have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or another chronic illness, you could be very wrong.
REVELATION: most people can improve their health. Many people improve a lot.
SOME PEOPLE GET WELL!
Surprise. Surprise. This information may come as a shock to you if you’ve only heard statements like…no one, ever, ever, ever gets well from _________ (you fill in the blank). That propaganda is simply negative “head” talk that does not lead towards anyone’s improved health. Think about it…why should your body, mind and spirit adopt a new health goal and outcome if you only believe that it is NOT possible? Yes folks, many people do get better, even some of the very sickest ones.
Let’s look at how to make your 2013 plans come true and have them include the very important topic of how to be healthy. Keep in mind that most people who have success with such a challenge a) take the time to develop and carry out a plan, b) figure out how to exert a measure of control over their health and finally, c) work their plan. On today’s Health Matters Show podcast, you’ll discover 7 points for implementing this type of health strategy. Resolve to have your new 2013 year start out and end better. Now that’s a new year’s resolution that’s worthy of a 365-days-a-year goal status!
(A powerhouse podcast of 11 minutes 30 seconds! Start off your new year right.)
Point #1: Own your symptoms, your health problems and the way you have approached your health challenges to date. It’s no use casting blame on doctors, health officials or anyone else. Your health- good and bad- is your own. It is time that you looked at it honestly and take ownership of what has been created within you.
Point #2: Become an expert in yourself. Don’t take attitudes, habits or anything for granted. Instead, question whether “everything” is in your best interest. Are you assuming that your body is sick and cannot heal? Why? Are you allowing negative-talking people around you and in your life? If so, can you block out their messages or remove them entirely?
Point #3: Understand and respect what you have gone through already. There really was and is a purpose to your experiences. What are you to learn? How have you become a different person because of your personal health journey?
Point #4: Realize that you are becoming a powerhouse person, capable of more than ever before. You know more. You’ve experienced more. You’re now capable of more. So what are you consciously taking away from your situation? What conclusions are becoming part of your new awareness? Is it possible that you will become a better person because of “it”?
Point 5: Respect, identify and classify the pain you’ve gone through. Once you look honestly and intimately at what you’re going through, no part of it will seem as powerful. Instead, broken down, apart and looked squarely in the eye, your illness will be more in the realm of conquerable. Know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are capable of lassoing the confounded thing into submission!
*You are going through a process that is uniquely your own. Be prepared to modify your plans, goals and conclusions, as needed. Change is a movement and it’s nothing to be afraid of. We are beings of constant change and that can be a very good thing!
Point 6: Create a series of spiraling goals. As you attain a goal, analyze it, modify it as necessary and then go on to another that exceeds and improves upon the one before. Moving forward is the ultimate achievement. Even if your progress seems slow at times, you are making progress and in the end that’s what you’re striving for! (If however you’re not moving forward, ask yourself some very honest questions about “Why?”.)
Often we human beings are capable of sabotaging our own wellness plans. We revert to old ways instead of remembering the positive new ones. *Why do we do that? Because we fear the future. The hell of the past is something we have lived through. But the future? It’s uncertain. If fear rules you, you have no certainty that it’s possible to survive change. **If you find yourself self-sabotaging your progress, seek me out. You may need some additional help.
Point 7: As the weeks and months materialize in your 2013 plans for “How to be Healthy”, step back ever so often and look at where you’ve been. Never go too long without analyzing what is going on in your life. The key here is to understand what is happening in and to your health. Then modify your attitudes, beliefs and habits as needed. Remember: keep moving forward with your ultimate goal of being healthy.
I have found that one of the keys to better health is to know how to bring about changes to my health. You, too, will be able to accomplish such a goal through a process of self-examination, being able to change and get rid of what is negatively impacting your health and then by implementing good, long-term health habits. All three steps are important; you can’t skip a single one. Do each step in order. Really accomplish it. Then you will be on your way to making 2013 one of your healthiest years ever.
However, you may have times when making and maintaining any progress is a tough struggle. We human beings are not always strong, good or right in what we think and do. We stumble. Remember the 3-legged stool principle I’ve talking about so many times? If one aspect of your mind, your body or your spirit falters, your unbalanced stool is tipped over and you’re suddenly sprawled out on the floor. Kersplat! That’s not a pretty picture. Always keep in mind that your condition is “right-able”.
If you fall, pick yourself back up. Before another moment goes by, determine that you will balance your health from a complete mind, body and spirit prospective. All three components are necessary to be really healthy. If you take this action, you’ll end 2013 in better shape than when you began.
Best wishes and let me know if I can help you,
