4 YouTube Tricks You Need to Know

January 30, 2020

Over 80% of content on the internet is video and most of it is being watched on YouTube. In fact, over 300 hours of videos are uploaded every minute and 5 billion videos are watched every day. No surprise that YouTube is one of the most popular and effective platforms to gain visibility.

If you want to get better traction on YouTube, here are 4 YouTube Tricks You Need to Know

* Upload your own written transcription to get better search results. If you have subtitles on your videos, it makes them more searchable, plus it makes it easier for people to watch if they’re in a place where they can’t turn on sound. If you’re tech-savvy, you can upload a time-stamped transcript (here’s the specifics). You can do it the simpler way too of pasting your full transcript, and YouTube will automatically upload it.
* To get an extra kick before you even make your video, use Google Trends to research what search terms are popular on YouTube right now. Including some of these keywords in your video and subtitles can help your video get noticed. More eyeballs and clicks to your social and landing pages, add to your overall ROI.
* Design your own end screen to promote additional content you want to feature. Create a simple graphic that highlights other material you want to promote. That might be another video, a new lead magnet, or an ask -- asking viewers to subscribe to your channel, or maybe all three. ‘Howfinity’ has a great video explaining how to do it. * You can also create a GIF from any video. They get a ton of attention on social media. If you have something that you think is “GIFable,” aka funny or visually interesting in your video, you can make it into a GIF. Here’s how. Go to your video, then in the URL at the top, add the word “gif” in front of “YouTube,” so it reads www.gifyoutube.com and then your video tag. Yes, it actually works.
