Progress and Challenges of the Goal Park Project in Houston

  • Goal Park Project Update:
    • Betirri provided an update on the progress of the park project in Houston.
    • Received an MOU from the city in March, contingent on raising 75% of the funds needed.
    • Restructuring to build a smaller scale of the park by 2026.
    • The World Cup will be used to bring more awareness and help raise funds.
    • Building a park typically takes 15 years, but the project was initially rushed to be completed in less than 10 years.
  • Gold Park Project Progress:
    • Betirri reported approximately 25% completion of creating a mini soccer pitch.
    • Plans to reach 50% completion by year-end.
    • Dr. Castellon discussed collaboration with students on architectural prototypes exhibited in Seoul, Houston, and Venice.
    • Interest in building the first outdoor prototype in Houston.
    • Emphasis on involving the community and students in real-world projects.
